Like sometimes I'll get these replies to some of my posts and I'll go to the blog (to block them) fully expecting to see, like, a racist or a troll or something and I find the blog of an otherwise seemingly somewhat socially aware thoughtful individual who apparently lost all their compassion and critical thinking skills the second a fattie was mentioned.

It's not the only marginalized category of people that experiences this phenomenon. But that doesn't stop it from being infuriating. There's a very specific kind of despair and helplessness felt when looking at someone who by all rights should by an ally and hearing them say "We need to end all human suffering.

Do you like the rainbow? Do you like the idea of playing with berry Sims but hate berry Sims? Do you want to mess around with aspects of the game you’ve never used before? Boy, do I have the challenge for you!

Welcome to the Not So Berry Legacy Challenge, a ten generation legacy with a focus on bright colors and new experiences.

Basic Rules:

1. Each heir must represent the color of the generation (i.e. hair, makeup, clothing), but brightly colored skin is not necessary (these aren’t actually berry Sims, that’s the joke). Of course, this is optional but a big portion of the fun.
   
2. The colors of the spouses don’t matter as they aren’t part of the challenge. Unless otherwise stated you can do whatever you please with them.
3. Money cheats can be used, but not excessively. Suggestion: use freerealestate for your first home, but no cheats afterward.
4. You may live wherever you please unless something is specified in the rules of a generation.
5. Every generation is supposed to complete both the career and aspiration of the heir unless explicitly stated otherwise.
6. Keep the lifespan on normal.
7. If you play this challenge and want to share it with us, go ahead and post with #notsoberry so we can see!

i hate it when headlines are phrased like this

it’s purposefully broad & vague to obscure what she did. it’s like, “celebrity receives criticism from [insert marginalised peoples here] for *spins wheel* a trailer they released for their new film” instead of telling us WHAT she did or WHY she’s being criticised. and why is the focus on the fact she’s being criticised instead of what she DID to deserve criticism? it implicitly places her in the position of a victim - or at least frames her as passive, when, if you know what happened, she’s clearly the aggressor

if anyones wondering what actually went down, the quick summary is that sia is making a movie called Music about the life of an autistic teenager named music. sia has spoken about wanting the movie to represent autism in a positive way, yet didnt cast any actual autistic people in the film.

when autistic people spoke up to criticize that on twitter, particularly autistic actors who had tried to reach out to her about the part and were ignored, her response was: “maybe you’re just a bad actor”.

since then, the only thing she seems to have posted on the subject is this

“Grrrrrr. Fuckity fuck why don’t you watch my film before you judge it? FURY.”

on top of this incredibly childish and dismissive response, it looks like shes been working closely with autism speaks on the film, so shes almost certainly been ignoring autistic voices in her plan to profit off of us from the beginning. i dont know much about the film itself (nor do i want to) and cant speak on its quality, but i feel like this should be enough to understand that any supposed allyship between sia and the autistic community is completely performative.
